STERLING – Christopher Whitehead, 58, of Sterling, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009.
He was born May 29, 1951, in Clearwater, Fla., the son of Christopher and Frances (Algar) Whitehead. He married Patricia M. Kelly on Oct. 31, 1980, in Dixon. Christopher was employed as a driver for Roadway Express for 17 years before retiring. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sterling, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Pat; two daughters, Lindsay (Lance) McCafferty of East Moline and Katie Whitehead of Sterling; and three grandchildren, Kayden Whitehead and Peyton and Tyler McCafferty.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sterling, with the Rev. David Finn, celebrant, officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Homes.
