Favorite class? Math. The environment that we have in our math class is the best you can find, and the teacher makes everything 10 times better.

Least-favorite class? I don’t particularly have a least-favorite class, I enjoy all my classes, so that is a blessing.
Favorite teacher? Cyndi Carlson, a.k.a “Dinger.” My dad used to teach with her years back and he always had such good things to say about her, and by the time she was my teacher, she exceeded my expectations. If you could describe the perfect math teacher I think it’d be pretty close to Mrs. Carlson. Every day is just a good day, if you’re having a down day or week she is always eager to talk and listen to try and help. She is not only an amazing teacher but also an amazing person.
School activities in which you participate: Cross country, basketball, baseball and National Honor Society.
Civic, church, or other volunteer activities in which you participate: I go to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy on the highway that is also connected to the Amboy preschool. Every year during the summer they clean everything in the preschool and I always go over and help with that. This year I also helped out with the kids baseball camp at the Amboy City Park.
What will you do after high school? I am planning on going to a four-year university somewhere not too far from home. I will most likely be going into either mathematics or education and then seeing about jobs from there.
What is something you learned in high school that you think you’ll never use? How to use shadows on a drawing.
If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be? The amount of classes we have; we are short-staffed, which makes it harder to have all the classes that a bigger school would have.
If you could create any new class at your school, what would it be? Home economics, because it teaches so many valuable life skills that you might not be able to learn anywhere else.
What does it take to be a successful high school student? You have to be devoted to your “job”. Going to school is your life and you can’t slack off or else you will fall behind and not be able to catch up. Maintaining a good balance between your life outside of school and homework is crucial to being successful.
Do you have a job? I work for a lady and her father at their properties and do different odd jobs such as mowing or weed-eating. I enjoy doing outside work and being able to get a little workout in some times while making money.
How would you describe your group of friends? We are as close as it gets. We’ve all grown up together since we were babies and that has just made all of us really good friends. With such a small town, it makes it easier to keep in contact with everyone.
Who is your best friend? I don’t know if I have a specific best friend, I have a lot of really close friends who have been there for me through a lot.
What do you do in your free time? If I am not at school or doing sports I am probably doing something with my friends. In a small town you have to find different stuff to entertain yourself, so hanging out with friends is a good option.
What kind of music are you listening to? I listen to almost every type of music; if it is a good song it doesn’t matter what genre it is, I’ll still listen to it.
If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? Hawaii, because it is such a cool and different atmosphere to be in with such different people and culture that it would be amazing. The weather is also a plus being so beautiful all the time.
What is your favorite childhood memory? Field Day at our elementary school. That was the one day in the year that everyone got excited about and nobody was upset about anything. You just got to have fun the entire day with nothing else to think about except winning the little games.
What do you do to cheer yourself up? Be around friends. It is impossible to stay in a bad mood around our group of friends.
What is your life’s philosophy? As long as you are happy doing something, it doesn’t matter what other people think.
Do you have any pets? I have a cat named Bud. We got him from a farmhouse about 8 years ago.
What would you do if you received $1 billion dollars all of a sudden? I would most definitely drop out of school right away, put half of it in the bank, and then do anything my heart desires with the rest of it.
Is there anything else you want people to know about you? I am completely ambidextrous, I write with my left hand, throw with my right hand, shoot right-handed, and swing left-handed.
