Moms ensemble and maple syrup all part of the local draw

This Weekend

The Michigan MOMsemble’s “Moms, We’ve Still Got it!” will perform 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Festival 56 Grace Theater in Princeton. Enjoy renditions of “I’m Just a Mom Who Cain’t Say No,” “Mommy is a Rockstar,” Shoppin’ after Midnight,” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life, for Moms.” Tickets are $25.

Maple Syrup Festival, 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Heritage Farm Museum Expo building, 8059 North River Road, Byron (part of the Byron Forest Preserve). Bring your family out for a delicious breakfast and learn about how they make their maple syrup. Admission is $5 adults, $3 for children 4-12.

Ready, Set Grow gardening workshop will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Loveland Community House in Dixon, 513 W. 2nd Street. Keynote presentation is on the lore and lure of wildflowers. Nancy Gmitro, master gardener in Carroll County, will provide a tour of her favorite spring flowers. Fee is $25. Registration was due March 9.

Rock band The What Now?!? will perform 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday at The Corner Tap in Rock Falls.

Clinton Symphony Orchestra has a performance April 30 at Vernon Cook Theater in Clinton.

Rosbrook Studio Second Saturday Open Mic, signup at 6 p.m., performances 7 to 11 p.m., 107 S. Peoria Ave., Dixon. $3 suggested donation

The First Fridays Open Mic, K’s Sports Bar, 408 East Washington (Route 64) in Oregon. Admission is free, although a jar is available for donations. Sign-up for performers is at 6:45. For information, call 815-449-2660.

Art exhibits

Planes, Trains and Automobiles runs through March 31 at KSB Hospital’s Commerce Towers. Exhibit is free and opens daily at 9 a.m.

Shades of Gray exhibit, will be on display to March 26 at The Next Picture Show gallery on 113 W First St. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
