BYRON — A Byron man died in a one vehicle crash on New Year’s Day.
Bruce Biermann, 70, died at SwedishAmerican Hospital after being transported there for treatment, according to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and Byron Fire Protection District personnel responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Tower Road just south of Oak Grove Road in rural Byron at approximately 5:05 p.m. on Jan. 1, according to a sheriff’s report. A Chevy truck was located in the ditch on the east side of the roadway with Biermann inside.
Byron Fire Protection District personnel extracted Biermann from the vehicle and immediately began life-saving measures, the sheriff’s report read. Biermann died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s report.
