La Salle man arrested on grooming charge after fugitive task force apprehension

Daniel Jeffries, 29, was wanted for allegedly using electronic device to solicit minor

Daniel J. Jeffries

A La Salle man was picked up Wednesday on a charge of grooming, the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Daniel J. Jeffries, 29, was picked up in Peru by members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Jeffries was wanted out of La Salle County for an original warrant for grooming, a Class 4 felony carrying one to three years in prison.

The charge stems from an investigation conducted by the Illinois State Police in February 2025. Jeffries is alleged to have used an electronic device to solicit, lure, or entice a minor under 17 years of age to commit the offense of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Jeffries was taken to the La Salle County Jail where he was held pending an appearance in La Salle County Circuit Court.
