GENEVA – In honor of National Library Week this week, the Geneva Public Library, 227 S. Seventh St., Geneva, has special events every day, officials announced in a news release.
These include a do-it-yourself workshop make-and-take crafts on the library’s second floor every day and daily activities on the first floor Kids Landing and Discovery Spot.
A second floor Training Lab computers are available with Tinercad for patrons to tinker with 3D modeling software. And if they finish a keychain project, they can submit it and have it printed out for free, the release stated.
Author and illustrator Tom Lichtenheld will read from some of his books and lead a hands-on drawing activity from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Friday. Harvey’s Tales Bookstore is a co-sponsor of this event.
Patrons can create their own watercolor cards with Water Street Studios from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Supplies will be provided.
Markie Striegel, Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at Geneva History Museum will give a lecture: “Virtual Tour of Public Art in Geneva,” from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Striegel will tell the stories behind the artwork of the 1910 Kane County Courthouse murals, the secret grotto behind the Kane County Government Center and the Eagle Statues on the Fabyan Estate and at Riverbank Laboratories.
