33rd annual Jingle Bell Run returns Dec. 3

The 33rd annual Jingle Bell Run and Walk for the Arthritis Foundation will return at 9 a.m. Dec. 3 on the main campus of Kankakee Community College.

The event features a 5K run and a 5K competitive walk. There also will be a fun walk.

A precursor to the event, Jingle in the Water, will be held from 1-2 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Kankakee YMCA.

Register online at <a href="https://www.JBR.org/Kankakee" target="_blank">JBR.org/Kankakee</a> or register at 8 a.m. the day of the race. Also, packet pickup and additional registration will be held from 2-6 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Iroquois Room at KCC.

The cost for the run and/or walk is $45 until Nov. 30. After that date, the cost increases to $50. The cost for the fun walk and Jingle in the Water is $40 until Nov. 30. After that date, the cost increases to $45. Virtual jinglers can stay at home, but still get a shirt for $30.

Donated refreshments include pizza from Chicago Dough, hot chocolate from Oberweis, Pepsi Sport Drink, water from Culligan, bananas from Jewel and soup from Bennett-Curtis House.

The Jingle Bell Run will feature a costume contest, an ugly Christmas sweater contest and donated prizes. The race is staffed by volunteers from local high schools.

Medals will be presented to all finishers. Participants also will receive shirts and goody bags.

The major sponsor for the event is Oak Orthopedics. Additional sponsorships are provided by Riverside Medical Center, the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office, CSL Behring and Kankakee Nursery.
