DeKALB TOWNSHIP – Recently-elected DeKalb Township officials, including the new township supervisor, were sworn into office this week.
DeKalb County Judge Thomas Doherty swore in the officials, including Mary Hess as supervisor, on Monday, according to a news release from the township. Hess won the April 6 election for the seat over challenger Jim Luebke, who ran as a write-in candidate after another county judge ruled Luebke will not have his name on the ballot after a paperwork error.
Others taking the oath of office included Craig Smith as Highway Commissioner, Richard Dyer as Assessor, Lisa King as Trustee, Chad McNett as Trustee, Dale Thurman as Trustee and Nancy Bradlo as Trustee.
Each official will serve a four year term, according to the release.
During the ceremony, township officials wrote in the release Doherty also recognized all outgoing and incoming members for their willful community service.
“The township wishes to express sincere appreciation to outgoing members Nancy Teboda and Kevin Flavin, who each served the township from 2013 to 2021,” township officials wrote in the news release.
The new board’s first meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 9 at the DeKalb Township Building, 2323 S. 4th Street. Township board meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month and are open to all members of the public.
