Man shot Monday afternoon in Annie Glidden North neighborhood, expected to survive: DeKalb police

Injuries to man who was shot are considered non-life threatening, man transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital

DeKALB – A man who was reportedly shot Monday afternoon sustained non-life threatening injuries in what was considered “an isolated incident,” according to DeKalb police.

DeKalb Police Chief David Byrd said “a few calls came in from the general area” to police at about 2:30 p.m. Monday that a man was shot in the 800 block of Ridge and Edgebrook drives. He said the man was shot “in his lower extremities” and was en route to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb at about 3:20 p.m. Monday.

Byrd said the injuries the man sustained appeared to be “non-life threatening.” He confirmed the shooting appeared to be a result of “some sort of dispute.” The man who was shot remained unidentified as of 4:45 p.m. Monday.

“There was no threat to the public at large and it appears to be an isolated incident,” Byrd said.

Byrd’s comments come after the City of DeKalb sent a text alert at 3:19 p.m. Monday saying “police are investigating shots fired in the 800 block of Ridge and Edgebrook.” The alert also urged residents to “avoid the area.”

As of 3:20 p.m. Monday, Byrd said there were no arrests made or charges pressed in connection to the Monday afternoon shooting.
