Secretary of State offices closed in observance of Independence Day

The Jesse White Secretary of State's Drivers Services Facility on South Peoria Avenue was closed on Friday, June 18, 2021. Like all state government offices, Gov. J.B. Pritzker ordered a state observance of the new holiday, Juneteenth, recognizing the importance of emancipating enslaved Americans. "I'm pleased to see the federal government join Illinois in recognizing Juneteenth as an official holiday, offering all Americans a day to reflect on the national shame of slavery and the work we must do to dismantle systemic racism," said Pritzker in announcing the observance.

SPRINGFIELD - Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced that all offices and facilities will be closed in observance of Independence Day.

Offices and Driver Services facilities operating on a:

• Monday through Friday schedule will be closed on Monday, July 5.

• Monday through Saturday schedule will be closed on Saturday, July 3 and Monday, July 5.

• Tuesday through Saturday schedule will be closed on Saturday, July 3.

All offices and Driver Services facilities will be open for business on Tuesday, July 6.

As a reminder, Secretary White has extended all expiration dates to Jan. 1, 2022. In addition, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has extended the federal REAL ID deadline to May 3, 2023.

Individuals can visit the Secretary of State’s website at www.cyberdriveillinois.com for online services including checking a driver’s eligibility to renew their driver’s license online, applying for a duplicate driver’s license, renewing license plate stickers or locating the nearest Driver Services facility.
