A 25-year-old man was found shot to death in a car parked on Seeser Street in the St. Pat's neighborhood overnight Sunday, police said.

Officers responded to the scene of the shooting shortly after midnight Sunday and found the man, identified by the Will County Coroner's Office as Ivan Perez Garcia of Romeoville, in the driver's seat of a car parked on Seeser between West Washington and West Marion streets, police said.

The officers "immediately began rendering medical aid," police said, and soon learned that Garcia was sitting in the vehicle when a gunman "exited from a nearby vehicle," walked up, "displayed a handgun and began firing into the vehicle, striking the victim."

Police said the gunman was white, about 30 years old, 5-foot-5 with a medium build and clean-shaven with buzzed, dark hair..

The shooter was wearing a gray, hooded, zip-up sweatshirt, police said.

The Garcia was taken to AMITA Health Medical Center in Joliet, where he died, police said.

The Joliet police asked anyone with information or video footage to call detectives at 815-724-3020, or to contact Will County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-323-6734 or crimestoppersofwillcounty.org if they wish to remain anonymous.
