ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the prestigious Charlemagne Award.

The 99th Annual Charlemagne Awards Gala is scheduled to take place on Feb. 5 at the Q Center in St. Charles. This annual event is a time to celebrate business leaders and the many accomplishments which occurred in 2020, such as milestone anniversaries, investments in our community and business leadership.

The St. Charles Chamber also will have the privilege of bestowing the Charlemagne Award to a member of the community for their lifetime commitment to the St. Charles community and their contribution to bringing the vision of Charlemagne to life, weaving the vision into the very fabric of the community and its culture, according to a news release from the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce.

The Charlemagne Award honors the lifetime achievement for an individual who has dedicated their time, efforts, and talent to making the community the great place it is today and demonstrates the very essence behind the Legend of Charlemagne written by C.V. Amenoff, who served as mayor of St. Charles from 1969-1973, the release stated. The legend reveals that Charlemagne left his four sons as guardians of St. Charles, to see that this city becomes a community where people could live, raise a family, work, have a business, be educated, worship and play.

This prestigious award was created in 1968. Nominations for the Charlemagne Award will be accepted at the offices of the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, 216 S. Riverside Ave., St. Charles, until noon Nov. 13. Applications can be obtained at the St. Charles Chamber's website, stcharleschamber.com, by email at info@stcharleschamber.com or by calling the St. Charles Chamber at 630- 584-8384.
