LINCOLNWOOD – Former DeKalb City Manager Anne Marie Gaura is the new village manager of the village of Lincolnwood, according to a news release from the village.

The village’s board of trustees approved the appointment during its Tuesday meeting, according to the release. The village is about 10 miles north of Chicago.

According to the report, Gaura will receive a base salary of $175,000, with the opportunity for annual increases.

“The village was fortunate to receive over 40 candidates for the position,” President Barry Bass said in an email statement Wednesday. “We believe [Gaura’s] experience, professionalism, and attitude will be a great asset to the village going forward.”

Gaura’s contract will run from Feb. 19 to May 2021, after which she will be eligible for a contract renewal, according to the release.

The former DeKalb city manager ended her four-year stint with the city in March, after resigning and citing a wish to pursue other professional opportunities.

Gaura earned a little more than $168,000 as DeKalb's city manager. Her DeKalb tenure included the $15 million of reinvestment and development projects in downtown DeKalb, and the implementation of a 10-year water infrastructure plan for the city.

She received more than $108,000 in severance when she left DeKalb, according to a previous Daily Chronicle report.

Her exit led to a contentious 2018 in DeKalb, which saw three other people filling that role until newly appointed City Manager Bill Nicklas was named to the top administrative position in December.

After she left DeKalb, Gaura served for a time as interim village manager of Homer Glen beginning in August.

Gaura did not respond to requests for comment.
