Roundup: Yorkville boys bowlers drop duals to Plainfield Central, Sycamore

BOYS BOWLING

Yorkville

Zack Nauman bowled a 652 series and Jackson Nance had a 649 to lead the Foxes in a 3,371-3,343 dual meet loss to Plainfield Central on Tuesday.

Caden Fairless bowled a 598 series and Nauman had a 594 for Yorkville in a 3,485-3,340 loss at Sycamore on Monday.

GIRLS BOWLING

Yorkville

Ellie Gates bowled Yorkville's high series of 505 and high game of 219 in a 2,337-1,797 dual win over Rochelle on Tuesday. Taylor Patterson bowled a 465 series, Maddy Morgan a 419, Madi Bradford a 410 and Leia Barron a 393.

Allison Nape bowled Yorkville's high series of 590 and high game of 204 in a 2,712-2,432 dual win over Ottawa on Jan. 3. Gates bowled a 529 and Bradford a 457.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Newark

Jocelyn Mitchell scored 19 points to lead the Norsemen past Indian Creek 62-57 on Monday. Meggie Scott added 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Alyssa Gittins chipped in with nine rebounds and Sienna Skelton had eight boards for Newark (13-6, 5-0 Little Ten).

Yorkville

Claudia Grunwald scored 15 points and Olivia Ross added 10 for the Foxes in a 45-18 wi over Morris on Saturday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Newark

The Norsemen rallied from a 14-point first-half deficit, allowing just 11 second-half points to beat Seneca 48-47 on Tuesday. Jacob Slivka led the way with 13 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists. Corey Jacobson added 11 points, Beau Brown 10 and Alex Tollefson nine. Brett Myre chipped in nine assists and eight steals for Newark (14-4, 4-0), which won its third straight game.
