Longtime Morrison jewelry store closing after 4 decades

MORRISON – Quinn’s Jewelry is closing after 40 years.

The shop at 104 W. Main St. is owned by Bradley Quinn, who is moving to Hilton Head, South Carolina to be near his parents, Nancy and Darrel Quinn, who own Quinn’s Diamond Jewelers there.

“Brad decided to close up shop and move south,” his mom Nancy said. “He was just tired of the harsh winters.”

The store is closed until Friday, when the going-out-of-business sale begins. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday until Christmas, or until everything is sold.

Brad’s grandfather, Kenneth Darrell Quinn, opened the Morrison store in 1977; he died Oct. 4. 2016, at the age of 89.

He also opened Quinn’s Jewelers in Rochelle in 1963; he sold that store to his younger son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Sheila Quinn, in 1986.
