OTTAWA — John Richard “Dick” Secor passed away May 14 in Helena, Mont., after a long illness.
John was born in 1936 in McGregor, Iowa, to Harlan “Peb” and Martha Secor. He moved with his family to Ottawa, where he grew up with his surviving brother and sisters, Fred Secor (Linda), Sue Wren and Betts Secor.
After high school, John went on to serve in the Army and upon his return moved to California and married Mary Eckman Miller in June 1965.
He went to work for Mountain Bell and transferred to Montana in 1970.
John’s parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Cathy Salo (Brandt); grandson, Andrew Salo, and his wife, Danielle; and John’s great-granddaughter, Madison. Also surviving John are his son, Rick Girth (Kathy), Eaton Rapids, Mich.; granddaughter, Amanda Girth (Drew Thompson); grandson, Josh Girth; and great-granddaughters, Claire Girth and Ella Thompson; and great-grandson, William Thompson. John also is survived by his uncle, Neill R. Gruver, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins across the country.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
