Man accused of choking woman, child turned over to Cook County

SYCAMORE – An 18-year-old accused of choking his girlfriend and a child was released from the DeKalb County Jail on his signature Friday, with the judge knowing he’d head right to Cook County.

Kejuan Glass, of the 1600 block of West Juneway Parkway, Chicago, is charged with unlawful restraint and aggravated domestic battery. If convicted of aggravated domestic battery, he could be sentenced to three to seven years in prison.

Police said in court records that on April 2, Glass punched, head-butted and choked his girlfriend at an apartment in the 800 block of Crane Drive. The records show the victim told police as she was choked, Glass said, “I don’t care if you die.”

Glass was arrested Thursday after police got a report that just after noon, he’d held a girl younger than 18 in the apartment against her will, and that he hit and choked her.

Judge Philip Montgomery ordered that because Glass has a pending charge in Cook County, and that’s where he’ll go upon his release, he be turned over without an order of electronic home monitoring.

Glass is due back in court at 9 a.m. June 29.
