Roundup: Emily Schultz, Oswego East softball shut out Minooka

SOFTBALL

Oswego East varsity: The Wolves defeated Minooka 5-0 in Southwest Prairie Conference action on May 17. Emily Schultz pitched the complete game shutout scattering five hits while striking out five. Kaili Chval had a triple, three RBIs and a run scored and Lauren Alesia had a double, RBI and run scored for the Wolves (19-9, 9-8).

BASEBALL

Oswego varsity: Gabe Panza went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in Oswego's lone run in a 4-1 loss to Plainfield Central on May 18. Cole Aughenbaugh struck out five over four innings.

Oswego East freshman: The Wolves ended the season on a high note, beating Plainfield East 6-0 on May 18. Corey Provow threw four scoreless innings and Andrew Petsche got the win in relief. Alex Kelsch pitched a perfect seventh. Offensively the Wolves (26-8) were led by Donovan Place, Max Robertson and Nathaniel Fukutake.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Oswego East: The Wolves (20-14, 9-5) beat Plainfield East 31-29, 24-26, 25-20 on May 18 to set a school record for wins (boys or girls volleyball).

"It was an extremely competitive match," Wolves coach Brian Zerfas said. "The third set we were able to control our emotions more and maintain a high level of focus, especially at the start of the set. Maintaining that focus helped us to limit errors and continue to play our game."

Cade Harrison led the Wolves with 11 kills, and middles Jahari Winkfield and Zeke Rivera earned six and five, respectively. Sam Behnke had 28 assists and Ben Jourgensen led the team with 14 digs.

The Wolves previously beat Minooka 25-22, 25-18 on May 16. Cade Harrison notched eight kills and Collin Harrison had six. Ben Jorgensen also added 11 digs while Sam Behnke dished out 17 assists.
