Volleyball:
Oswego East: The Oswego East boys' volleyball team moved to 13-9 on the season after splitting its Southwest Prairie Conference matches last week. The Wolves, now 2-4 in the league, defeated Romeoville 25-21, 25-17. Last Thursday, the Wolves fell to Plainfield Central 15-25, 18-25.
Softball
Oswego varsity: Oswego picked up its first win in Southwest Prairie Conference action last Thursday with a 8-0 shutout over Romeoville. The Panthers scored seven runs in the fourth behind an RBI single from Kayla Moky, a walk by Ally Miller, a two-run double by Alexis Moky and a three-run home run by Ashley McCance, who finished with three RBIs on two hits.
Annie Scaramuzzi earned the win in a complete game.
On Monday, Oswego topped Yorkville 7-0 as Scaramuzzi pitched a second consecutive shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out six. Jen Veber reached base three times and had two runs and an RBI. Oswego fell to Plainfield East on Tuesday, 12-7. Becky Pieroni hit her first high school homerun.
Oswego freshman: Oswego jumped out to an early lead on Oswego East and captured a 13-2 victory on April 19. A pair of errors and an RBI single by Jordan Zwiezen during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Panthers. Caitlin Gilbert racked up two RBIs on two hits. Olivia Lamb earned the win in the circle for the Panthers, pitching all five innings.
Baseball
Oswego East sophomore: The Oswego East team picked up a 13-0 win over Romeoville on April 19. Pitcher Shane Schatz kept Romeoville off the scoreboard for all five innings, allowing three hits while ringing up nine. Trent Taylor went 2-3, drove in one and scored three runs.
Oswego East lit up the scoreboard on April 20 against Romeoville as they combined for 21 runs in an 11-10 win. Trent Taylor racked up four RBIs on three hits.Noah Harder got the win in two innings of shutout ball. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Oswego East freshman: The Wolves had a difficult week of conference play. The Wolves lost in a seventh inning walk-off against Oswego, 6-7, in which Eddie Borwick threw a solid six innings with offensive support from Ian Kroemer, Cam Knauss, and Jake Dirksen. Oswego East lost Game 2 to the Panthers, 7-0 and fell in the final game of the series, 11-7. Oswego East also dropped a 13-9 game to Yorkville last Saturday.
Oswego East was able to record a sweep of the Romeoville through solid pitching from all three starters Eddie Borwick, Ricky Tellez and Andrew Zuerner. The Wolves won each game 7-5, 13-2, and 6-1. Each pitcher threw a complete game against the Spartans. Offensively the Wolves were led by Nick Boissiere who had three extra base hits during the week and Liam Geoffroy, who consistently finds himself on base.
Oswego freshman: On April 19, Oswego lost 2-1 to Plainfield North. Matt Sorrells was on the mound and kept Plainfield North scoreless for six innings. Oswego just couldn't close the door however and North scored two in the bottom of the seventh to walk away with the victory. Sorrells finished the game only allowing two hits while striking out six and walking two batters.
On April 20, Oswego lost to Plainfield North 6-1. Oswego could only manage two hits on the day, doubles by Codey Quirin and Garry Maynard. Oswego scored their run in the last inning when Luke Menard scored on a Jason Crafton ground out. Andrew Delphey threw three innings of solid relief, only allowing one run on three hits.
Last Thursday, Oswego came away with a 4-3 victory at Plainfield North in a game shortened to five innings due to rain and lightning. Jason Crafton collected his second win of the season, pitching all five innings while allowing five hits and striking out three. Andrew Delphey was 2-for-3 on the day.
On Monday, Oswego won 4-3 over Joliet Catholic in a come from behind win. Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Jacob Wayne singled next to bring Delphey around to tie the score and Quirin scored the go ahead run on a bunt by Reece Barry. Matt Sorrells was the winning pitcher, throwing six innings while allowing four hits and striking out seven.
On Tuesday, Oswego hosted Romeoville and won by the score of 11-0. Oswego moves to 14-4 on the season with the victory.
Badminton:
Oswego East: The Oswego East badminton team won its last three duals against East Aurora (10-5), Plainfield East (12-3) and Plainfield North (8-7). In addition, the Wolves finished fifth of 16 teams at Homewood-Flossmoor's tournament on Saturday. They are now 9-1 overall, 5-1 in the Southwest Prairie Conference entering the SPC tournament on Thursday.
Oswego: The Panthers won their final Southwest Prairie Conference dual of the season, 15-0, on Monday against Plainfield Central. They are now 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the SPC entering the league tournament on Thursday. Oswego also beat Plainfield South (10-5) but lost to Glenbard South (8-7) in duals last week as well as finished in second place at Hoffman Estates' Featherfest on Saturday.
