A 29 year-old Plano resident, Sean Maurer, died in a two-vehicle crash on Minkler Road at Morgan Creek in Oswego Sunday at approximately 1:52 p.m., village police reported.
Police said Maurer was driving southbound on Minkler Road when he apparently lost control of his Nissan sedan near the bridge and drifted into the northbound lane where his vehicle was broadsided on the passenger side by a Honda SUI that was traveling northbound.
Police said the driver of the SUV, a 65 year-old woman from Yorkville, received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
No charges have been filed in the crash, police said.
A motorist came upon the scene just after the accident had occurred and contacted police.
Minkler Road was closed between Country Lane and Hunt Club Drive for several hours as the police department's traffic reconstructionist investigated the crash.
Police described the investigation as ongoing.
The bridge that spans Morgan Creek on Minkler Road was the site of a prior fatal accident in September of 2013.
