Food service chef opens Stucky's Bar and Grille in Johnsburg

JOHNSBURG – A Johnsburg resident who since 2009 has helped make and deliver personalized meals as part of her chef service plans to bring a personal touch to her latest venture – a new family restaurant in the village.

Deb Stuckwisch earlier this month opened Stucky’s Bar and Grille with her husband, Ron, at the former Chef Davito’s Steakhouse and Italian Restaurant location, 4000 N. Johnsburg Road.

The new sit-down restaurant offers Johnsburg-area families “basic down-home cooking,” with dinner and lunch items made fresh every day, she said. The restaurant itself offers a full-service bar, multiple TVs, a spacious dining area and a rentable private dining area for up to 50 people, Stuckwisch said.

“We are making everything from scratch. Every menu item is made by hand, so we don’t take any shortcuts,” she said. “It’s more attention to detail.”

Lunch and dinner items at Stucky’s Bar and Grille vary from burgers and sandwiches to chicken pot pie. Stuckwisch also offers salad dishes and other healthier items.

The new Johnsburg eatery will rotate specials, offering customers new and unique food and drinks daily, Stuckwisch said. On Tuesday, the restaurant featured its “Octoberfest” special, including German-style foods and drinks. Every Wednesday, its “Ladies Night” special features signature cocktails.

A longtime personal chef, Stuckwisch started Meals Like Mom in 2009, a food service that allows customers to craft personalized meal plans with Stuckwisch’s guidance. She makes a week’s worth of meals and then delivers the items directly to clients’ doorsteps.

She said she still plans to operate Meals Like Mom and create Stucky’s Bar and Grille into a destination that makes customers feel like they haven’t left their mom’s kitchen.

“We are trying to make it a family but also a fun place to be at,” said Stuckwisch, who has lived in Johnsburg for 25 years.
