LEMONT – Chicago Blackhawks goalie Scott Darling has achieved landmark status in Lemont.
The Village of Lemont recently christened Fourth Street at McCarthy Road "Scott Darling Drive" in honor of the hometown hero.
The 26-year-old Lemont native grew up on the street and went to Lemont High School before attending the University of Maine and eventually signing with the Blackhawks in 2014.
Darling's rookie campaign was a memorable one, as the netminder started off last season with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL, but was called up to the Blackhawks when starter Corey Crawford was sidelined with an injury.
Darling eventually took over the Hawks' backup role, going 9-4 with a 1.95 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. He was instrumental in the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup run, winning all four games in the series against the Nashville Predators.
After the Chicago Blackhawks won their third Stanley Cup in six years, Darling spent part of his day with the Cup with the Lemont Community.
This season, Darling is 1-2 with an .880 save percentage.
