BATAVIA – Funeral services and visitation are set to honor a soldier from North Aurora who was killed while on a mission in Afghanistan.
Services for Christopher Patterson will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 950 Hart Road in Batavia, according to a notice posted on the church's website. The visitation is set from 1-8 p.m. Jan. 20. The funeral is set to start at 11 a.m. Jan. 21.
Patterson, 20, was a member of the Indiana National Guard and served as a combat engineer. He was killed along with three other soldiers in his unit while "conducting combat route clearance operations" as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, according to a statement from the Indiana National Guard.
