DeKalb loose-leaf collection:
7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, with vacuum trucks collecting leaves from Lincoln Highway and streets south of Route 38 this week, and streets north of Lincoln Highway next week. Crews will alternate sections weekly through November, depending on weather conditions. Residents should rake their leaves onto the parkway – between the sidewalk and the street, but not in the gutter, which could cause flooding by blocking storm sewers. Leaves also may be placed in open garbage cans or yard-waste bags for regularly scheduled garbage pickup days, or in landscape waste containers at specified locations. MOPS of DeKalb:
Mothers of Preschoolers meets from 8:45-11 a.m. every other Monday, September to May, at First Lutheran Church of DeKalb, 324 N. Third St. Topic Monday is "Giving your Kids some Culture," with NIU Prelude Teacher. Railroad Ave. All hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1980, are required to take a Department of Natural Resources hunter safety course such as this before they can receive their first hunting license. Hunters of any age also can benefit from taking the 10-hour course, which will give information on wildlife management, firearm safety, hunter ethics, game identification, first aid, survival techniques and hunting regulations. Sycamore Park District "Belly Dance" class for adults: 6:30-7:30 p.m. beginning Friday, for six weeks, at the Sycamore High School Field House. Sandra Schramel will teach this Middle Eastern dance style that develops grace and coordination with fun. Sycamore-DeKalb Alumnae Panhellenic: 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at Passion for Petals Gardens, 1N409 County Line Road, Maple Park. All national sorority women from all colleges are welcome. The program highlights "Holiday Flowering Bulbs" by a Master Gardener at this complimentary demonstration. Guests are welcome. "33 Years with Troop 33" reservation deadline:
Nov. 18, for the dinner and program at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28 at First Lutheran Church in DeKalb. 324 N. Third St. in DeKalb. Troop 33 was first chartered in 1925, as DeKalb Troop 3 and is one of the oldest Boy Scout troops in DeKalb County. Boy Scout Troop 33 will honor Scoutmaster Cliff Golden for his 33 years of service and anyone wishing to celebrate Cliff's outstanding dedication to area youth, can  attend. Tickets cost $15 each. Scouts are encouraged to send in photos, newspaper clippings or favorite memories, to be compiled for the event.
