Historic Powers-Walker House open for living history event

The 1854 Greek revival home at Glacial Park is open to the public only a handful of times each year.

A chance to see prehistoric tools and how they’re used is one of several events lined up this fall at the historic Powers-Walker House at Route 31 and Harts Road in Glacial Park near Ringwood.

,A living history event at the historic Powers-Walker House at Glacial Park Conservation Area will let visitors learn about the first woman to raise a family in the 1854 Greek revival home.

The house will be open for hourly tours during the event, “Meet Mary Powers,” which will take place from noon to 3 p.m. June 6 at the home, 6201 Harts Road, Ringwood, according to a news release.

Volunteers in historical attire will be available to answer questions. The Powers-Walker House is open to the public only a handful of times each year.

The event is open to all ages and free to attend, according to the release. Registration is required, and space is limited.
