Campton Square Farmers Market to launch June 2

Starting next month, those who like to go to farmers markets for fresh eggs and produce will find those items and more at a new market in Campton Hills.

The Campton Square Farmers Market will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday, rain or shine, from June through September in the Campton Square shopping center at the intersection of Route 64 and Burlington Road in Campton Hills. The first market will take place June 2.

“We have a pretty decent lineup of vendors, including a number of local farmers selling everything from vegetables to honey to eggs,” said market manager Robert Murphy, who also is market manager of the St. Charles Farmers Market. “We also will have local bakers and artisans selling crafts. It’s going to be a very nice lineup of vendors. As we go along in June, I know we’ll pick up more vendors as people hear about it.”

Wanderin’ Barefoot Farm, Fishy Green Organic Farm and Bills Olive Oil are among the vendors that will be at the Campton Square Farmers Market.

Vendor C&W Market & Provisions specializes in artisan cheeses, seafood, fresh baked bread, eggs and other products.

The Campton Square Farmers Market is sponsored by Corcoran Commercial Real Estate.

The St. Charles Farmers Market in front of the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Cedar Ave., will open for the season June 4.

Vendors at the farmers markets that Murphy manages will continue to wear masks.

“At least for the short term,” Murphy said. “I think to be on the safe side, it’s better that we continue to wear our masks where possible, at least for the foreseeable future. I will say that when it gets to be 80 degrees to 100 degrees out with high humidity, it gets really hard to wear those masks, so I’m glad that the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] is on our side if we decide not to wear them because they make it hard to breathe.”

Vendors also will make hand sanitizer available.

“I call it best health safety practices,” Murphy said. “We’re planning on continuing that for now.”

Murphy believes the Campton Square Farmers Market will add to the farmers market scene in the Fox Valley area.

“Every day of the week there’s a farmers market in the Fox Valley,” Murphy said. “So this fills a niche for a nice Wednesday market in the upper Fox Valley here.”
