Water Street Studios in Batavia postpones art opening

With the emergence of a heavy wave of the omicron variant of COVID-19, Water Street Studios in Batavia announces it will postpone its scheduled Second Friday art opening.

The next exhibition is the WSS Resident Artists & Teachers show, which had been set to launch Jan. 14.

“This new wave has led to a county infection rate that would essentially guarantee spread at an event of that size, and with health and safety coming first, we will tentatively reschedule for Friday Jan. 28,” Executive Director James Tracy stated in a news release. “Hopefully, this wave is short-lived, and we can safely celebrate our talented resident artists and teachers at that time with a gallery grand finale event.

On Jan. 14, WSS plans to have a video event in place “so you can still see this amazing work from the comfort of your home,” he said, noting details will follow.

Currently, in-person gallery hours continue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays at 160 S. Water Street. Masks will be required for entry.
