Arthur Bergner

Arthur Bergner, 88, died on June 28, 2010 at Rolling Green Village, Greenville, S.C.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1922 in Oregon, the son of Walter and Blenda Bergner.

He married Marion Warner in Rockford in October of 1944; she died in 2000. 

Bergner lived his entire life as a resident of Oregon. 

He graduated from Oregon High School in 1940, attended the University of Illinois and served as an aviator in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

An electrician most of his working life, he was a member of the VFW, Lions Club, IBEW and Masonic Lodge. 

He is survived by sons, Steve (Christine), Brevard, N.C., Greg (Jean), South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Brad (Barb), Burnsville, Minn., Richard (Jeri), Carlsbad, Calif.; daughter, Lori (Alan) Stegall, Greer, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Oregon VFW, 1310 W. Washington St., with a luncheon to follow.
