Woman died after fire at Joliet home

Woman was found pulseless, not breathing, Joliet fire chief said

A 57-year-old woman was found dead in a Joliet home after a house fire.

The woman was identified by the Will County Coroner’s Office as Yvette Easterling.

“Ms. Easterling was a victim of a house fire in the 800 block of Black (Road) in Joliet,” coroner officials said in a news release.

About 2 a.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to a fire at a residence in the 800 block of Black Road, said Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey.

The fire was spotted by an ambulance crew responding to an emergency call, Blaskey said.

Firefighters doused a blaze in the front portion of the home, he said.

During a search of the home, a 56-year-old resident was found, Blaskey said.

“This victim was pulseless and not breathing,” Blaskey said.

The woman was transported to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where she was pronounced deceased, he said.

“There were no other occupants in the home at the time of the fire,” Blaskey said.

He said the woman was not burnt and that she was just found pulseless and not breathing.

The fire remains under investigation.
