No injuries after fire fully engulfs pickup truck on Route 14 in Woodstock

No injuries were reported after Woodstock/Fire Rescue District personnel put out a vehicle fire on Route 14 around 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.

Flames fully engulfed a pickup truck about 8 p.m. Saturday on Route 14 between Kishwaukee Valley Road and the South Street overpass in Woodstock, according to a news release.

The driver of the vehicle was its sole occupant and was uninjured by the incident, the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District said in the release.

Firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire within minutes of arrival, according to the release.

The fire is believed to have started in the truck’s engine compartment and the cause is thought to be mechanical, according to the release.

Route 14 was closed in both directions for about 40 minutes while emergency responders were on scene, according to the release.
