Man found dead in speedboat in Holiday Hills yard off Fox River

Speedboat left the Fox River and came to rest in the yard, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office says

A man was found dead in Holiday Hills by emergency responders after they responded to a report of a boat on fire on Wednesday afternoon.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday to the 2400 block of South Riverview Drive, Holiday Hills, Deputy Kevin Byrnes said in an email.

When emergency responders arrived, they found a speedboat and its sole occupant, a deceased male, in the backyard of a residence, Byrnes said.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the boat left the Fox River and came to rest in the yard of a residence, he said.

The investigation was turned over to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Office of Law Enforcement and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, Byrnes said.
