Letter: Traffic enforcement

Typewritter, letter to the editor

To the Editor:

For the past three months, Lockport police have been parked on Gougar Road between 167th and 163rd streets, full time, during business hours. When asked why, the terse response was “traffic enforcement.“

Too many minivans exceeding the speed limit?

Expired sticker checkpoint?

DUI checkpoint?

Maybe too many 18-wheel freight haulers on residential streets?

Will County can afford to park a full-time officer to patrol the mean streets of Lockport to clamp down on wayward residents?

Who says there is no truck traffic safety issue?

Don’t worry, there is a magic bridge that will alleviate all of our concerns about out-of-control truck drivers endangering the citizens of Will County.
