New Planet Fitness gym coming to New Lenox

Mayor Tim Baldermann said the company plans to take over a 28,000-square foot building on Lincoln Highway

New Lenox

A new Planet Fitness gym is coming to New Lenox.

The village announced in a Facebook post the company secured a lease for the property at 700 W. Lincoln Highway. The space is where the former FIM store was located.

New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann said the company is in the process of finalizing details with the landlord of the 28,000-square-foot property. He added there is no set timeline for when the new gym will open.

The village added that while it does not have a “big supply of vacant buildings,” the new addition will make one less vacant space.

This would be the first Planet Fitness location in New Lenox. The company already runs gyms in Joliet, Lockport and Bolingbrook.

As of June, Planet Fitness has nearly 15 million members at over 2,100 stores in the U.S., Canada, Panama, Mexico and Australia.
