West, Central, Providence seniors with scholarship opportunity through New Lenox Chamber of Commerce

The New Lenox Chamber of Commerce is running its scholarship program once again for graduating seniors from Lincoln-Way West, Lincoln-Way Central and Providence Catholic.

The chamber will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to one student from each of the schools. To be qualified, students must attend one of the three mentioned schools, reside in the village of New Lenox or the Township, and plan to attend a technical or trade school, business college, or a two or four-year university.

Applications must be submitted to the chamber’s office by March 5. A dropbox will be outside the chamber office for students submitting outside of business hours.

The application will ask students to list their extra curricular activities, community organizations they are involved in, which school they plan to attend and other information about the college selection process, why the scholarship will benefit them, current work situation and history, and other scholarships applied for.

Students are also asked to write a brief autobiography in less than 500 words highlighting personal inspiration for the vocation of their choice.

The application and more information can be found on the chamber’s website.
