Plainfield to host meeting on infrastructure improvements in Old Town neighborhood

The village of Plainfield will host a meeting Wednesday to share information on the improvements being made in the Old Town neighborhood.

The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Boy Scout Park, located at 23729 W. Ottawa St., according to a news release.

The project includes infrastructure improvements on Lockport Street east of Route 59, and Eastern Avenue from Lockport Street to Illinois 126 as follows:

• Sanitary sewer lining and repair work will take place starting this year through April of next year.

• The installation of new water mains, replacement of water service lines, storm sewer upgrades, road reconstruction, pedestrian accommodations, lighting, and landscaping are scheduled to occur in 2022.

• Improvements to streets, including Center, Bartlett, Evans, and Amboy, are scheduled for 2023. An additional public meeting will occur in early 2022 to address questions regarding proposed improvements in this area.

Exhibits on the project will be available to view at the meeting, and village staff will be available to answer questions as well.
