Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta’s appointment to fill a vacancy on the Village Board was approved during a meeting Tuesday night.

New Trustee Aimee Rupsis is a lifelong resident of Bolingbrook and an educator in Valley View School District 365U, according to a village Facebook post. She was sworn in on Tuesday.

“With her professional experience and constant volunteerism and involvement in the community, I trust she will be able to engage our residents, including our youth, in a unique way,” Alexander-Basta said in her own Facebook post.

Rupsis filled the seat Alexander-Basta occupied before she was appointed last year to serve as the interim mayor after Roger Claar retired from the office he held for about 30 years. Alexander-Basta won a full term for mayor in April’s municipal election.
