Joliet man nabbed in connection with Larkin Avenue gun attack: cops

A Joliet man was arrested in connection with an early morning gun attack near the corner of Larkin Avenue and McDonough Street, police said.

Jordan Moore, 31, was captured after officers on patrol heard gunshots shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The officers “observed a vehicle without its headlights activated traveling at a high rate of speed,” the Joliet police said in a statement released Monday.

The officers chased Moore until he crashed into a parked car about seven blocks away on Purdue Court between Capri Court and St. Francis Avenue, police said.

Moore’s home is on Capri Court near St. Jude Avenue, about four blocks from the scene of the crash, records show.

Officers searched Moore’s car and found a handgun and ammunition, police said, and he was arrested.

Then, according to police, Moore was searched at the police department and officers discovered he was in possession of a clear plastic bag containing the hyperactivity and impulse control drug Adderall and the opioid pain medication Norco.

While all of this was going on, according to police, other officers were sent to Third Avenue between Mississippi and Iowa avenues to look into a report of a car that had been shot, police said.

Once there, the officers “located a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire and the driver indicated that the incident occurred around South Larkin Avenue and McDonough Street earlier in the evening,” according to police.

Moore was transported to the Will County jail. Formal charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance were filed against him Monday, court records show.
