Nomination petitions available for June primary

Candidates can begin collecting signatures for nomination on Jan. 13

JOLIET – The Will County Clerk’s office has announced that nominating petition packets are available for the June 28 primary election.

The Illinois General Assembly last year moved the primary election date, which normally was the third Tuesday in March, to June 28.

Nominating petition packets can be obtained from the clerk’s website at and at the clerk’s office at 302 N. Chicago St. in downtown Joliet.

To download a petition packet, click on the Petition Packets quick link near the top of the page or click on Elections and then Candidate Services.

While candidates can begin collecting petition packets, they are barred by state law from collecting signatures until Jan. 13, the clerk’s office said in a news release.

The clerk’s office will post the names of candidates accepting petition packets on its website at 3:30 p.m. each business day.

County positions on the ballot include county clerk, sheriff, treasurer, regional superintendent of schools, all County Board members in Districts 1 through 11 and precinct committeepersons.

The clerk’s website provides an official 2022 Candidate’s Guide and up-to-date information on the Candidate Services link.
