Will County Board member appointed to Silver Cross Hospital board

Winfrey was first elected to represent Joliet on the county board in 2009

Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox announced the appointment of Will County Board member Denise Winfrey to its board of directors.

Winfrey was first elected to represent Joliet on the Will County Board in 2009 and also served as the interim county executive after the death of Larry Walsh Sr. in June of 2020.

She also holds leadership positions with the National Association of Counties, previously served as the vice chair of the Large Urban Counties Caucus and as vice chair of the Community Economic Workforce Development Steering Committee.

Winfrey attended Joliet public schools, received her bachelor’s degree from Lewis University in Romeoville, a master’s degree from American University in Washington, D.C. and did post-graduate work at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland.

Silver Cross has over 4,500 employees, physicians and volunteers operating a 316-bed hospital and five satellite facilities.
