Wunderlich, Quillman appointments approved

Wunderlich joins Plan Commission, Quillman is council liaison to Bille Limacher Bicentennial Park

Robert Wunderlich has been appointed to the Joliet Plan Commission, and Councilwoman Jan Quillman has been made the City Council’s liaison to the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park board.

The two mayoral appointments were approved by the Joliet City Council on Tuesday.

Wunderlich fills a Plan Commission spot vacated by James Capparelli when he became city manager in January.

Wunderlich had served as a member of the Joliet Junior College Board of Trustees for 44 years before deciding to seek a seat on the City Council in April. He finished fourth in the election for three at-large seats, having been edged out by 11 votes by newly elected Councilman Cesar Guerrero.

He also was a construction contractor before closing Wunderlich Builders and retiring late last year.

Wunderlich and Quillman were among three candidates endorsed by the Will & Grundy Counties Building Trades Council for City Council in the April election.

Quillman, who was re-elected in April, takes over the liaison position that had been held by former Councilman Michael Turk, who did not seek re-election and left the council in May.
