Joliet corrects deadline on public comment for intermodal plan

Public has until Monday to comment on Joliet Intermodal Master Plan

Traffic flows along Route 53 on Wednesday in Joliet Township. State officials are considering how to improve traffic problems in the area.

The city of Joliet on Wednesday corrected the previously announced deadline for comment on the Transportation Improvement Program being developed for the Joliet Intermodal Master Plan.

The deadline is Monday and not May 17, the city said in a revised news release.

The master plan is being developed by the city and Will County for the Elwood/Joliet region.

Those who want to comment can do so on the Public Involvement section of the project webpage, which is willcountyillinois.com/intermodal.

“The purpose of the master plan is to identify transportation needs that support anticipated development of the area’s intermodal industry while simultaneously working to improve the quality of life for area residents,” a news release from the city said.

The area being studies is bounded by Interstate 80 on the north, Route 52 on the east, Interstate 55 on the west and West Hoff Road on the south.
