Renovation begins on front of Will County Office Building in downtown Joliet

Project is expected to be completed by June 30

Interim Will County Executive Denise Winfrey announced the closure of the Will County Office Building in Joliet to the public starting Nov. 16, 2020, amid increasing cases of the novel coronavirus.

Visitors to the Will County Office Building in Joliet will begin to notice construction at the entrance of the facility starting this week.

Renovations at the entrance of the building, located at 302 N. Chicago St., began Monday, according to a news release.

The project is scheduled to be completed by June 30.

“We want to assure people that the building will remain open during the two months this work is going on,” said Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, in the release.

Members of the public will have to enter via the east door, the entrance closest to the County Clerk’s Office.

Also, the driveway leading to the building will be closed. All cars will need to enter the parking lot through the north end.

Visitors should call a county office before visiting, as has been protocol during the pandemic.
