Deadline Friday for Joliet preservation nominations

Annual award recognizes places and people for restoration accomplishments

Nominations for the Annual Joliet Historic Preservation Award are due Friday.

The city this week issued a reminder of the deadline for the award, which recognizes “properties that have undergone recent exterior and/or interior preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive use, or sympathetic additions, as well as people who exhibit dedication to the field of historic preservation.”

Nomination forms can be found on Historic Preservation Commission page on the city’s website, joliet.gov, along with more information about the annual award.

Properties recognized with the award last year were:

• 623 Western Ave. for exterior improvements and landscaping that enhanced the historic character of the home and neighborhood;

• 619 McDonough St. for exterior improvements that enhanced the historic character of the home and neighborhood;

• 10 Hunter Ave. for exterior improvements that enhanced the historic character of the home and neighborhood.
