Joliet Township High School District 204 earns recognition for financial reporting

‘This award provides proof of sound fiscal management’

Joliet Township High School District 204 recently earned recognition from a nonprofit organization for its financial reporting.

The Association of School Business Officials International awarded District 204 is Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for “demonstrating excellence in financial reporting and transparency,” according to a news release.

The award was based on an audit of the district’s comprehensive annual financial report for fiscal 2020. Districts submit their report to be reviewed by a team of financial professionals to be considered for the award.

“This award provides proof of sound fiscal management, which is essential to providing the very best education for all students, particularly as we face the uncertainty brought on by the pandemic,” Ilandus Hampton, District 204′s assistant superintendent of business services, said in the release.

Hampton added the district is “committed to responsible financial management and transparency.”

The district’s annual financial report informs stakeholders about its financial and economic state. The ASBO called the report an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the local community.
