Plainfield District 202 Board seeks to fill vacancy

Plainfield School District 202

The Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education will accept applications to fill a vacancy.

Board member Joette Doyle resigned her position this week because of personal health issues, according to a district news release. She was elected in the April 2019 election.

Applications to fill the seat must be received by 5 p.m. on Jan. 22.

By state law, a Board of Education member must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Illinois and the school district for at least one year preceding the election, at least 18 years old and a registered voter.

Those interested in applying should email Charlotte Ward at cward@psd202.org.

Emails must include the applicant’s qualifications, statements explaining their interest in becoming a member of the board, and why they would be an asset or valuable member of the board.

The board will review all applications and announce the new board member no later than Feb. 22 as required by law.

Doyle’s replacement will remain on the board through the end of her term in April 2023. The appointee may then choose to run for the seat.

“Mrs. Doyle is a wonderful person and a valued member of the Board of Education,” Board President Kevin Kirberg said in the release.
