Man charged in Joliet Township sex abuse case

Man accused of inappropriately touching girl, police said

A man was arrested and charged in connection with the sexual abuse of a girl in Joliet Township, police said.

On Sunday, Will County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to a Joliet Township residence in response to a report of a possible incident of criminal sexual abuse, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said.

Deputies spoke to a relative of the girl, who told them the girl was sitting outside when a man stopped by the home, Hoffmeyer said.

Hoffmeyer said the man was identified as Rodolfo Mandjuano, 67, of the 900 block of West Park Avenue in Joliet.

Mandjuano was accused of approaching the girl and then inappropriately touching her, Hoffmeyer said.

The girl told the relative and police were called to the scene, she said.

“Interviews were conducted and Mandjuano was taken into custody and charged,” Hoffmeyer said.

Mandjuano was taken to the Will County jail about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Mandjuano was charged on Monday with criminal sexual abuse and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, court records show.

Mandjuano remained in jail Monday.
