Passed out motorist had 5 kids in car: cops

An intoxicated Bolingbrook woman was found passed out in a car with five young children early Saturday morning, police said.

Officers investigating a report of an unconscious woman parked in a South Larkin Avenue commercial lot found 28-year-old Ebone Thorpe in the driver’s seat, according to police, and she wasn’t alone.

“Officers also observed five children between the ages of 3 and 9 years asleep in the back of the vehicle,” police said.

“Officers summoned a Joliet Fire Department ambulance and were able to successfully wake up Thorpe, who exhibited extreme behaviors of alcohol impairment,” police said.

Thorpe was transported to AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center and “officers took protective custody of the children and transported them to the Joliet Police Department,” according to police.

“Thorpe’s children were placed into the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services,” police said.

After she was released from the hospital, Thorpe was taken to the Will County jail. She was booked on probable cause of endangering a child, driving under the influence and aggravated driving under the influence, records show.

Thorpe’s bond was set at $75,000, jail records show.
