Teen arrested in connection with Bolingbrook Walmart shooting

Warrant issued for teen’s arrest after ‘thorough investigation,’ police said

Bolingbrook police announced on Monday the arrest of a teen who was charged in connection with the shooting of a man outside of a Walmart store last month.

The 17-year-old was arrested at 3:02 p.m. on April 12 and taken to the River Valley Juvenile Center, according to Bolingbrook police.

The teen was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the March 30 incident that wounded a 29-year-old man.

“After a thorough investigation, a no bond arrest warrant was issued by the Will County State’s Attorney Juvenile Division for the offender in this case. The case is still under review,” police said.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on March 30, officers responded to the reported shooting in the parking lot of Walmart, 200 South Bolingbrook Drive.

A 29-year-old man taken to a hospital in stable condition after he was shot in the chest, police said. He has since been released from the hospital.

The offender and victim had a dispute and are possibly known to each other, police said.

“This appears to be an isolated incident,” police said.

Police described a man wearing a “white puffy coat, black or gray shirt and tan pants,” who was seen running from the scene into a town home area south of the parking lot.
