A second man who was involved in a shooting in Romeoville has been arrested, police said.

On Wednesday, Romeoville Police Chief Ken Kroll announced the arrest of Stanley L. Russell, 20, of Joliet on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the Jan. 5 shooting.

Russell was taken to the Will County jail the same day as the arraignment for Jayln Blackmore, 23, another man who police said was involved in the shooting on Taylor and Budler roads.

Blackmore was charged with firing a gun at a vehicle in Romeoville and helping another man involved in the incident to evade the law.

Russell’s criminal case remained under seal Wednesday. Russell’s bond was set at $150,000, according to jail records.

On Jan. 5, Romeoville police officers and Will County deputies investigated a shooting at Taylor and Budler roads, Romeoville police said.

The shooting involved two vehicles that fled the scene, one of them was a Dodge Charger driven by Blackmore, police said. Bullet damage had also been reported at two addresses on Lehigh Drive in Plainfield Township, police said. Lehigh Drive is near the intersection of Taylor and Budler roads.

About an hour after the shooting, officers found Blackmore driving a Dodge Charger and initiated a traffic stop that led to his arrest, police said.

A judge set Blackmore’s bond at $125,000 and ordered him not to possess any firearms or dangerous weapons.

Blackmore was also ordered to have no contact with a residence on South Lehigh Drive, court records show.
