Joliet man crashed into woman’s car, pointed gun at her: cops

Man also threatened to kill officers during booking, police said

A Joliet man rammed a woman’s car, pointed a gun at her and later threatened to kill officers while he was being booked after his arrest, police said.

About 5 p.m. Friday, officers went to a residence in the 800 block of Ewing Street in response to a report of a disturbance, Joliet police said.

Officers arrived at the scene and determined that a disturbance occurred when Kehwon Watts, of the 400 block of East Washington Street, intentionally struck a woman’s vehicle with his vehicle, police said.

The woman was with her daughter at the time of the crash, police said.

“While still in his vehicle, Watts pointed a black handgun at the victim then fled from the scene,” police said.

Shortly afterward, officers conducted a traffic stop on Watts in the 400 block of East Washington Street and arrested him, police said. Officers recovered a bag of white powder that they suspected was cocaine from Watts’ pocket, police said.

Officers searched Watts’ vehicle and recovered a loaded handgun, police said.

Watts was then taken to the Joliet Police Department for booking.

“While at the Joliet Police Department, Watts was uncooperative and threatened to kill officers. Watts then struggled with officers during the booking process and had to be restrained,” police said.

Watts was taken to the Will County jail after his arrest on probable cause of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm with no firearm owner’s identification card, reckless conduct, aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting and obstructing a police officer.
